I’m knitting felted bags for some of my friends and want to add some cute patches I’ve found but am a horrid seamstress and would much rather use an iron-on than sew them by hand. I’ve heard maybe ironing on low with a towel in between. Anyone know if this will destroy my felting?

I’m new to circular knitting, and am working on a pair of mittens with narrow stripes. I’d like them to look like circles stacked on top of each other, instead of the spiral with abrupt color changes that I’m getting. Help!

I’m knitting for orphans and homeless kids here in Aust. and in countries where winter temp is below zero. I can’t afford to buy a lot of wool, but have also been using 8 ply acrylic yarn doubled, as I can afford lots more of that. Now I have been told it won’t be very warm. Is this true???? Any ideas please…………

My knitting always curls at the edges, even when knitting garter stitch, and no matter what yarn I am using (whether wool, acrylic or another). I have tried casting on more loosely, but with no difference. I always block woollen pieces, which helps, but not with acrylic. Apart from crocheting the edges, which is good but not suitable for everything I make, is there another way to get my knitting to lie flat by changing the way I knit?

I am new to seattle and looking for a knitting group in the area. I live in South Seattle, so the closer to there the better, but personality is more important. I am looking for a fun talkative group that meets in the evenings.

My knitting pattern reads as follows:

“row 3: yfwd, k2″

I’ve read elsewhere that it’s a British abbreviation for yarn over, but it comes at the start of the pattern. I thought you could only do a yarn over between two stitches. Can you do it at the beginning of a row? (if so, how? I’m really lost on this one)
